We manage the complete transit from the port of Mombasa to the coffee company in Breda.

The commercial mission and the logistical challenge
Bèkske imports specialty Arabica coffee grown in the southern/ western highlands of Rwanda. Their company focuses on the empowerment of female entrepreneurs in the region. Supporting survivors of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994, most of them having survived sexual violence. Stimulating the entrepreneurship of these women contributes to a decent living, for both the women and their children.
Because Rwanda is landlocked, the logistics process begins with a geographical challenge. MOL Logistics takes charge right from the source: the raw coffee beans are loaded into standard dry containers at a warehouse in Kigali. From there, we manage the overland trucking directly to the seaport of Mombasa, Kenya, where our local MOL Logistics Kenya office takes full control of the ocean freight.
Strategic ocean freight routing
Currently, there is no direct shipping line connecting Mombasa to Rotterdam. To solve this, the cargo follows a strategic transit route. From Mombasa, the standard dry containers are shipped across the Indian Ocean to the port of Nhava Sheva (Mumbai, India).
From India, the cargo continues its journey to the Port of Rotterdam. The total ocean transit time for this specific routing takes approximately 50 days.
While the cargo itself is straightforward dry freight, managing a route with multiple transshipments requires tight coordination and constant monitoring by our freight experts to prevent delays and keep the supply chain moving.
Network execution
This specific routing demonstrates the practical value of the MOL Logistics network. MLG Kenya handles the origin logistics and the initial ocean freight, while MLG Netherlands seamlessly takes over for the European leg.
Upon arrival in Rotterdam, our Dutch team manages the complex customs clearance and coordinates the final inland transport directly to Bèkske’s facility in Breda. By managing this handover internally, we provide Bèkske with peace of mind.
