From Monday 19th September to Monday 03rd October, the workers in Liverpool are going on strike.
A strike has been announced to take place at Liverpool Port and have started already, on Monday 19th September. One of the major ports in the UK will be closed for 2 weeks, until Monday 03rd October, causing inevitable delays and backlogs.
Reason for the strike
As for the strike in Felixstowe, the union failed to reach a convenient agreement for the workers.
Unfortunately the port in Liverpool will not be the only one on strike; in fact this dispute will coincide with a second strike in Felixstowe and a rail strike in Suffolk where the workers are prepared to stop their services from 27th September.
MOL Plan
Our team will be monitoring the situation closely since this will have a negative impact on both import and export.
We will try to gain as much information as possible from the shipping lines or co-loaders so as to avoid delays, additional costs, or detentions, keeping our customers informed of their import shipments every step of the way.
In the case of exports, although the strike may still cause disruptions, we will try to arrange departures from other UK ports to prevent further delays.
