MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.1
World Maritime Day was created by the United Nations to celebrate the maritime industry and its global contributions to the economy, and, obviously, to shipping. With the first World Maritime Day held in 1978, this year we celebrate the maritime sector on Thursday 29th September.
2022 Theme and MOL Vision
The theme for this year emphasizes the need for a green transition of the maritime sector to a sustainable future.
MOL UK fully support the MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.1, an upgraded version of MOL Group Environmental Vision 2.0, formulated in 2021.
Initiatives
To achieve its medium-to long term objective, MOL will implement five initiatives:
- Adoption of Clean Alternative Fuels
- Enhancement of Energy-Saving Technologies
- Boost Operative Efficiency
- Building Business Model to enable Net Zero GHG Emission
- Expanding Low-Carbon and Decarbonization Projects
Partnership with Bombora
As part of our decarbonization projects, MOL Group announced a partnership with a UK-based Company, Bombora Wave Power, to examine wave energy business opportunities in Japan and Asia. With Bombora’s innovative technology, power can be generated using wave energy as a true alternative to complement today’s renewable energy mix.
