General
Last month MOL Logistics (Netherlands) B.V. signed an agreement with Air France KLM Martinair cargo for the use of sustainable aviation fuel during cargo flights. As freight forwarder we offer our international partners the opportunity to learn more about the SAF program and how to achieve sustainability targets in this context. Please contact Richard Boogaard, our branch manager air in the Netherlands, for more information.
Sustainable Aviation Fuel is one of the keys to reducing our carbon footprint, but it is not yet available on a large scale. Sustainable Aviation Fuel, or SAF, is a jet fuel, made from renewable sources like used cooking oil and a durable substitute to fossil fuel. It blends perfectly with conventional jet fuel and fits all engines of all aircraft, without impacting current processes or operations. SAF proactively reduces emissions by at least 75% compared to fossil fuel and it contributes to a circular economy.
KLM only buys SAF produced from raw materials that do not have a negative impact on biodiversity and/or food production. This sustainable fuel meets criteria issued by the Roundtable of Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB).
MOL Logistics (Netherlands) has been a partner of KLM Cargo in the Netherlands for almost 100 years. MOL Logistics, originated from Wassing BV in Tilburg, like KLM was founded in 1919. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, a Japanese listed shipping and logistics service provider took over Wassing in 1990. Since then MOL Logistics (Netherlands) has been part of a global organization with representation in over 50 countries.
KLM’s partnership with MOL Logistics (Netherlands) ties in with the extensive policies on sustainability, safety and social responsibilities upheld by MOL worldwide. Owning a fleet of over 700 ships, this has a significant impact. In Tilburg currently work is being carried out to make the warehouses of MOL Logistics’ home base completely CO² neutral.
